In Chinese, we will use the possessive adjective 的 (de) to describe the noun.

Sentence pattern: Noun 1 +的(de) + Noun 2

e.g. 我的爸爸  wǒ de bɑ̀ bɑ̀ 

In the above example, 我 (wǒ) is the first noun, 爸爸 (bɑ̀ bɑ) is the second noun, the possessive adjective的(de) describes the second noun. It forms the meaning of “My father”.
